What Not To Do When You Publish -- Blogathon Day 8

One of the many reasons I love my writer friends is their willingness to share what they learn, both their successes and failures.

So I have a warning to pass on to my Indie friends... make sure you put yourself as author when you publish on Kindle.

It seems like the easiest part. After all, you poured a part of your soul into writing the book. When it's time to hit publish, you are equal parts excited and terrified. But you are proud.

Proud enough to claim it as yours, right?

Well...

Maybe I should be more specific about my warning. Authors, you might want to consider NOT publishing your novel in the middle of a cross-country move.

I'm a second-time author (and this is the second time I've published during a HUGE move), so I should have known better! But I was so eager to share my baby, and my first YA book, that I went for it. I closed my eyes, after going over and over the details and downloadable Kindle preview, and hit Publish.

The next day, I was so excited to see Chasing Memories on Kindle. When I went to link it to my Amazon Author account, I noticed something... my name wasn't listed.

Yes, I went through the entire publishing process and forgot to list myself as the author (I even listed my editor -- the fabulous Jo Michaels, who deserves recognition for her hard work and amazing suggestions).

Don't worry... it's fixed. But learn from my mistakes, and...

* Try not to publish during a big life event
* Make sure and list yourself as author

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. A huge shout-out to my Blogathon friends! I just made it--posted at 11:49pm. *whew*

Hey, I'd take credit for that book! It's amazing, honey! :) I can't wait for the reviews to start rolling in. Many hugs! WRITE ON!
