2013 was a stellar year for awesome books! I read 100 this year, and my goal is the same (if not more) for 2014.

In the last two weeks of December, I read several books that will be officially reviewed over the next two weeks. A couple were 5-star reads. Look for appearances again by Melissa Foster and Jo Michaels (both 5-star reviews) and a new favorite... Juliana Haygert.

A Round of Words in 80 Days (ROW80) Update

I have a few goals to focus on leading up to NaNo.

Outline at least 30 things I want to happen in my ms for use during NaNoWriMo (TiaBach, if you want to buddy me).  Thanks to Kim Switzer for this idea. For more great ideas, please visit her NaNo Planning 2013 post. ---> So far I've made a list of 10 good events.

Use #ROW80 word sprints (11amPST/2pmEST) to work on events and outlining for NaNo piece. ---> Plan to start today.

Perform weekly ROW80 sponsor duties. ---> Will catch up later today.

Get website set up. ---> On my to do list for tomorrow.

Cull through emails and finish up to dos as necessary. ---> Made some progress on this last week. The problem is that to dos never stop flowing in, so it feels like a task that can never really be complete.

Get Depression Cookies on Smashwords. ---> Will do this week.

Review

Violet is in training to become a Guardian, but she has one final test. She has a long history with her assigned partner, Ryn--they've been friends in the past, but their current status is quite murky.

During their mission, they face an intense battle that leaves them with more questions than answers. Returning home for graduation, they find the battle has only just begun. Surprises lurk around every corner. To complicate matters even more, Violet's feelings for Ryn are definitely leading her outside friend territory and into something much steamier.

With evil lurking, will Violet know who to trust and what to believe?

Rachel Morgan creates an intricate and vivid story with many twists and turns. This is the second book in the Creepy Hollow series, and occasionally I found myself wondering if I was missing something, especially at the beginning. But with each page turn, I was drawn more and more into the story. I've been careful in this review to not include spoilers, but there are some juicy bits I sure would love to share.

By the end, not only was I excited to read the next installment, I was also eager to get my hands on Book One to see what I missed. If you are looking for an enchanting summer read, definitely pick up The Faerie Prince and get lost in the building romance of Ryn and Violet. Just know it will make your summer hotter.

The Ball Crashes: Wordcount Blogathon, Day 7

I have been juggling for weeks now. Each day, a new ball seems to be added. And usually by me, because I love to help other authors and support this amazing community that has so often supported me and kept me writing.

But, yesterday I let a writer friend down, and a ball dropped.

My biggest fear when I drop one ball... how many others have I dropped and not even noticed?

This freaks me out and causes me to start checking and double-checking everything else I do. Which in turn takes me more time and makes my already overwhelmed life even more overwhelming.

The movers may be on their way, but I'm going to be reading this lovely lady's book tonight and tomorrow and posting the review here on Monday and on Mom in Love with Fiction on Tuesday. 

Thanks, Rachel, for understanding a mom-of-three's mental breakdown with a looming cross-country move (movers come at 8am on Monday, 6/10!).
