Sharing Jo Michaels 12 Days of Reviews Fun!
The amazing Jo Michaels--my friend, editor, co-conspirator, cover designer, and all around great gal--is hosting a fun year-end event. Best of all... it's all about indies!
Each day she has giveaways and allows indie authors to pitch a book. She'll sample them and pick someone's book to buy. If she enjoys the book (and can give it a 3-star rating or better), she'll leave a review. Plus, it's a great way to find new books to read.
Okay, enough of my para-phrasing. Check out the rules here and yesterday's post at 12 Days of Reviews Requests, Day Two.
Oh, and did I mention you can enter to win a Kindle Fire HD 6 (16GB -- No special offers) White? Enter here.
What are you waiting for? If you are a reader, go find some great books. If you are an indie author, go and pitch your novel. Either way, enter for some fun stuff.
Happy Wednesday!

Cruising on Empty, but Cruising: ROW80
Wow, there's so much fun stuff to tell you about (which is why this post is late). I'm running around like a crazy woman thanks to a huge edit and getting ready for UtopYA. I leave Wednesday morning. Eek!
Okay, on with the stuff.
First, the lovely Jo Michaels--who I will finally meet at UtopYA--featured an interview with me on her blog this week. Plus, there's a giveaway for an eBook set of my Tala Prophecy series and also an eBook of Chasing Shadows. An excerpt:
Jo: I hear that. Maybe all kids do that. Mine are also ridiculously different. I know you’ve used all three of your daughters’ names in your Tala Prophecy series. Who does each character represent and why?
Tia: My eldest daughter, Jackie, is an old soul who is wise beyond her years, so it made perfect sense for her to be the Wiccan grandmother. Reagan, my middle daughter, is the tough-as-nails heroine. She’s a lacrosse goalie and afraid of nothing, but she has a soft side and a love for family just like my main character. Finally, Madeleine, my baby. She’s all kinds of sassy and strong, but she loves fiercely. You don’t want to get in her way. Madeleine, the character, is the same. Life has thrown her major curveballs, but she perseveres and protects her own.
And I’ll share a little exclusive here on Jo’s blog… my daughter, Reagan, does not love to read (it’s not my fault!). I thought she might want to read a book where she was the heroine. So, yes, it was partly a sneaky-Mom trick.

Speaking of giveaways, the wonderful Heather Topham Wood is running one to celebrate 4,000 Likes on her Facebook page. Check it out...

Mondays are my A Round of Words in 80 Days (ROW80) check-ins.
Speaking of ROW80, Kait Nolan needed a bit of help and I rushed her an inspiration post. It's a tribute to this amazing group. Take a moment and read it here.
Have you ever run around all day, and someone asks, "What'd you do all day?" You know you never sat down and kicked some to-dos in the butt, but you can't put it into words. That's me, right now! After UtopYA, I'll get back to writing and more standard ROW80 updates.
Hope everyone is well!

Some review highlights...
Christine gave it 5 stars and said:
"Reagan has matured quite a bit, although she is still refreshingly seventeen. She is a strong character, and fits well as the heroine of a YA novel. I loved the new characters we meet, and I even loved when they made me cry. It was so touching to get glimpses through Reagan's eyes of her grandparents interacting with each other, also. I like that Reagan has a new love interest, even though she is wise enough not to pursue a relationship on the brink of a war, it's sweet to see her teenage thoughts about the subject."
Shauna also gave it 5 stars and said:
"As with the first, her voice is the true strength of the novel. Her perfect teenage-ness carries readers through some action, some sadness, a blossoming love story with grace and humor. Because of the excitement of the story, I just couldn't put this book down! If you love YA, you will love Chasing Shadows! Truly a must read."
If you have read Chasing Shadows, I'd love for you to leave a review. It really does help other readers!
During release week, Chasing Shadows went as high as #7 in Paranormal during my release day promo (99 cents for the first five days):
Plus, it was listed as a Hot New Release.
Of course, I'm over the moon. But, I also wanted to encourage other writers. This is my third book. With each one, it gets better and easier. It's another reminder to keep on writing. The best marketing for your book... more books.
Speaking of which, Chasing Memories was free during the release of Chasing Shadows and reached #1 in free downloads for Paranormal. WOOT!
Thanks to everyone who blogged, Tweeted, shared on Facebook, or mentioned the book to a friend. I am so grateful!
A Round of Words in 80 Days (ROW80) Update
And thanks to my ROW80 buddies! Without your support and encouragement, I never would have finished the book.
I have my editing hat on right now, and I have a first edit due back to a client on Tuesday. After that, I'm diving back into Chasing Forgiveness. I hope to have a rough draft by the time I head to UtopYA in June.
Hope everyone is having a productive round!
I'm so proud of this book, so I wanted to share some highlights since release day.
But first, there are two giveaways still running to win copies. Please share!

Exhale, Deep Breath, Forge Ahead: ROW80 & Giveaway News
It's December. I've survived NaNo, so now it's time to set new goals for the remainder of 2013. After a whirlwind month, I finally exhaled. Now it's time to take a deep breath and forge ahead.
But first...
A huge thank you to everyone who helped me share about the free promotion for Chasing Memories. Since it was over the holidays, I couldn't watch it every second. However, I did catch it hit #36 overall in the Kindle Free Store and #1 in two categories.
It was quite a ride! Again, I couldn't have done it without some amazing writer friends and blogger support. Thank you all!
I also wanted to share a huge giveaway from a bunch of authors planning to attend UTopYa in June 2014. If you don't know anything about this rocking conference, check it out here.
Now through December 25, there will be a new prize pack given away each day featuring some great books. Then, as the finale... TWO fully loaded Kindle HDs will be given away loaded with all the books. Enter HERE.
And onto December A Round of Words in 80 Days (ROW80) goals...
* Read through and polish Chasing Memories 2 (and come up with a title!). My goal is to have it to Jo Michaels, aka my wonderful editor, by 12/15.
* Finish my website and have it up and running before Christmas.
* Editing -- excited for my newest project, and another one is on the way.
* Be more active on social media now that NaNo is over.
* Take notes and start preparing for Chasing Memories 3 and my shiny new YA (possibly NA) idea.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone!

Friday Fun & Giveaways
I wanted to share some great books and giveaways with everyone today. Few things bring me greater joy than a great read.
First, a wonderful new adult read by the amazing Jo Michaels: Mystic ~ Melody. I was fortunate to get an ARC of this one. My full review can be found here. An excerpt:
Melody is a damaged character, but she joins forces with some other ladies who are fighting their own demons. Each of them is finding a way to tap into their own strength. Women power!
If you love a story centered around strong female characters, Mystic ~ Melody definitely fits the bill.
You can find out more about Jo on Twitter, her website, her blog, and Facebook. Also, find out more about her indie author services at Indie Books Gone Wild (where I'm one of the editors/proofreaders).
And I'm thrilled to be running a giveaway of this amazing book. Enter to win a paperback or Kindle copy of Mystic ~ Melody. Open to US residents only.

Next, a Southern women's fiction book I am very proud to have edited. Doris Schneider is a beautiful person and that shines through in her debut into the fiction world, Borrowed Things. An excerpt from my review:
Borrowed Things is Southern women's fiction at its best, capturing your heart within the first few pages. Anne Gray is a rare character, equal parts strength and compassion. Readers will identify with her struggles and lingering questions as they enjoy her exploits and journey toward friendship and love. But most of all, they will find themselves transported into a town rich in memorable characters, intriguing history, and many secrets.
For more information, check out GoodReads and follow Doris on Facebook.
Because I'm feeling the book love, I also have a giveaway of Borrowed Things. Open to US Residents only.

1000 Likes Giveaway
Back in March, I finally created an author Facebook page. Previously, I had a Depression Cookies page. To be honest, I wasn't sure I had another book in me.
Then an idea for a trilogy hit me. Book one, Chasing Memories, came out in June. Now, I'm working on books two and three. My goal is to have both out by the time I go to UTopYa next year in June. (Tickets for that event go on sale October 1, so check it out.)
Although I have played with a few other social media sites, I am most comfortable on Facebook and Twitter. My author page hovered around 300 for the longest time. Yesterday, it hit 1,000. *squeals*
To celebrate, I'm having a giveaway. Oh, and I'm using Rafflecopter for the first time. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
Because I am in a learning mode, what items do you most like to see in giveaways from authors? Leaving an answer in the bottom earns you an entry. ;-)
Please share this giveaway. It will make a happy author even happier.

Banned Books Week
Earlier this month, I wrote a post about censorship: Banning is for Bullies. An excerpt:
I have read many of the above and most are considered classics. (Judy Blume may not be in the classics category for scholarly types, but she is for me!) Can you imagine life without these titles, and many more, just because some people found them offensive? Heck, I bet the vast majority of paranormal fiction would be eradicated for propagating evil.
At the end of the day, I think banning is for bullies. It's a way for people to try and force their opinion on others. And I don't like it.
If I had been more on top of my game, I would have known that Banned Books Week was just around the corner and saved the post for that. So please take a moment and pop over and read my thoughts.
For today, I am featuring a blog hop hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Book Hounds. From I Am A Reader's website:
Each blog on the hop is featuring a giveaway, so please check out the link here.
Also included on I Am A Reader's blog was a link to the top 10 challenged books for each year of the past decade: Frequently Challenged Books of the 21st Century. Some of them I found simply confounding. For example, in 2012, Captain Underpants was listed. Really!
Which book in the last two years did you find most surprising?
Hope everyone is having an amazing Monday!

Giveaways Galore: A One-Stop Shop
It's Friday, and what better way to celebrate than to share some great giveaways.
My Crazy Corner featured me on Wednesday as part of the 2013 YA Blogfest. My Post, Power to the Females, was all about strong female characters. An excerpt:
Lately, I see a generation of women who are only getting stronger and savvier. That's not to say they don't struggle with indecision and tough choices, but they seem to be tackling them with a stronger sense of self than even a generation ago. What I do not want is a book with a main female character who whines all the time, can't make her own decisions, and has no self-confidence.
Check out the article to read more. In addition, I offered a paperback copy of Chasing Memories as a giveaway. I've included the Rafflecopter here. Take a moment and enter.

Simply Sensational Book Fanatics is hosting a huge giveaway to celebrate 2 years in the blogging world. Win 85 eBooks and other swag. Click here to enter. Contest ends 9/30/13. And, yes, an eBook copy of Chasing Memories is part of the winnings.

Right now, you can enter to win a paperback of Sixty Days of Grace by Dorothy Ruppert. A snippet from the book's summary: In today's world, women desperately struggle to meet the unrealistic expectations of others and of themselves. Society tells women they can do it all, and yet they instinctively know they do not have the resources to accomplish all the demands placed upon them. Drawing on their own strength is not enough; in order to survive, women must draw on God.

And just in case you've missed it... September is Indie-Credible month. Until 9/30/13, you can enter to win an eReader of choice with the balance going on a gift card. Check out my interview at BookKraze. After enjoying that, you can watch an Indie video (you don't want to let my dancing debut go unnoticed) and enter the giveaway.
Oh, and you can still catch some amazing Indie features through the rest of the month. The schedule can also be found on the BookKraze post.
Now that's how I like to end a week... giveaways galore. Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

Indie Books Gone Wild is an amazing resource for indie writers, featuring many publishing services including formatting, proofreading, and editing. (Note: I am an editor for IBGW.)

Indie-Credible Event, Video & Giveaway
I don't usually post on Tuesdays, but I had to make an exception to spread the word about the Indie-Credible event happening all month long.
Plus, there's an amazing giveaway and a video of several indie authors pumping up the volume (yes, I'm in it and I'm dancing -- eek!). Both can be found at the bottom of this post.
Please support indies this month by visiting these blogs and showing some love.
I will be featured on Book Kraze on Monday, September 9!
Oh, and Karen Hooper, author of Tangled Tides and Grasping at Eternity, made an awesome Indie-Credible video. Check it out...
And last but not least...
