Summary

Vampires. My fascination with them first drew me to paranormal books many years ago, but the more I read, the more I wanted a unique spin. And I'm thrilled to say Cursed Hearts offers that. Succubi were a new paranormal creature to me, and I found myself fascinated. After all, a creature who lives off of passion but is cursed to be without love. 

Add to that a man who believes himself without a soul, and you have a classic paranormal Romeo & Juliet--such potential for tragedy and broken hearts. But you'll have to read it to find out the ending. No spoilers here.

As if they did not face enough, a succubi-vampire union comes with its own curse. Only a once-in-a-lifetime love would be worth facing all of these obstacles. 

I highly recommend you pick up your copy today.

Reviews & Puppies: ROW80

Over the weekend, I was thrilled to receive a 5-star review of Chasing Shadows from Readers Favorite. An excerpt:

Too bad Readers Favorite doesn't share reviews with Amazon (some issues between the two). Speaking of Amazon, I've had two readers contact me because they tried leaving reviews and couldn't. One was denied outright (they tried twice and were denied twice -- Amazon told the reviewer she wasn't following the review guidelines, but the review I saw was fine). Another was able to post (and was a verified purchase) and was taken down -- two times!

I just don't get it. I'm going to write Amazon Customer Service today, especially about the one who is a verified purchase. There's no excuse for taking down her review.

Many of you know my family lost our 10-year-old Boxer, Jazzy, to stomach cancer in April. This weekend, we adopted two puppies (sisters!). So I wanted to welcome the newest Bachs: Sarabi & Nala. Anyone with kids should know right away where we got the names.

It's Monday, so it's time for my A Round of Words in 80 Days (ROW80) check-in. Sadly, there's not much to report today. I'm waiting for an edit to come back for a second go-through, and I'm watching two puppies. It's like having newborns!

My goal is to write at least 1,000 words over the next three days on Chasing Forgiveness. I need a measurable goal to get my butt in gear.

Proud to be a Writer: Tub-Full Tuesday

I read an interesting post yesterday: The Difference between Writers and People who Write. Some really interesting points. And, although I am guilty of multi-tasking, I am proud to say I am a writer. If I was still living in Colorado, I'd shout it from the mountaintop.


Today is Tub-Full Tuesday for our blog, and my tub is filled with this newfound realization. I don't just write for writing's sake. I spend my days reading out loud and striving for the most impact with the fewest words. I go to bed with ideas swirling on what to write the next day. I have scribbled thoughts on papers all over my house. I breathe words.


The words flew out of me today. When they slowed down, I checked email to discover a "Highly recommended" review of Depression Cookies from A Cozy Reader's Corner Reviews. A highlight from the review:

"It always amazes me when two people can collaborate so well and produce an amazing book. While the career of an author is generally viewed as a solo act, I have been pleasantly surprised by co-authors, such as Tia and Angela, who pen a book together and leave you wondering where one left off and the other began. How do they make the book flow as one complete work when they are in fact two different people? It amazes me."

Today, I'm especially proud to be a writer. The muse may at times disappear and praises may be few and far between, but this knowledge will remain.


What have you discovered about yourself recently?

Taking It All in Stride: Reviews

We hope our novel brings mothers and daughters together in discussion. That has always been our main focus. To accomplish that, we want to get it into as many readers' hands as we can. Reviews are certainly a huge part of that process.

We have put our novel out there to several places for review, and so far have received nothing less than 4 stars and glowing reports. One of our favorites was from http://www.featheredquill.com/ who gave us 5 out of 5 stars and said, "A heartwarming story of family love, the perfect book to share between a mother and daughter."

However, I fully expect to get a negative review at some point. I have been in enough book clubs to know how varied readers tastes are. There have been widely popular and critically acclaimed books I didn't like, and much less favorably accepted novels I have loved. Same for movies, clothing, food, etc. What makes this country so great is freedom of choice and expression.

I have a review blog myself (http://etjrmbach.blogspot.com/ - please keep checking it out) and review for Rebeccas Reads (http://www.rebeccasreads.com/), and I always try to be fair even if I don't love a book. I think most reviewers do the same.

A friend recently copied me a on a review and subsequent author backlash. Sadly, the review commended the author's story but pointed out the distraction of severe grammatical errors. I think most readers would appreciate this. The author did not! Sadly, she embarrased herself and other authors. I am personally thrilled with all the new review sites that will review Indie books.
