I'm taking a 4-day break from the cross-country road trip to hang out with friends in Superior, Colorado--my second home and the setting for my young adult book, Chasing Memories.
But I have several things to share today.
First, the cover reveal of Carrie Butler's Courage. In addition to being an indie writer, she's a great friend to indie writers. So excited for her newest release...
About Courage, Mark of Nexus (Book 2)
Category: New Adult (NA)
Genre: Paranormal Romance (PNR)
Release: October 15, 2013
Formats: E-Book & Paperback
Rena Collins never thought she’d long for the past—back when affection from Wallace, her freakishly strong boyfriend, was the most dangerous aspect of her life. But now that the human-altering organization known as ERA has gone on the offensive, nothing is safe. Her bloodline is exposed, her relationships torn apart, and just when it seems like things can’t get any worse, ERA ups the ante. To save mankind from forced evolution, Rena will have to mend her broken ties and form a resistance... hand-in-hand with the one she hurt most.

I'll update everyone on my Chasing Memories cover tour on Wednesday, but here's a picture from the Kansas City zoo (yes, that's me with my wolf ears).

Write. Write. Write.
Decided on a major twist in Book 2 of the Tala Prophecy. Did research in CO this weekend. I'm so excited about the possibilities. My new goal is to have Book 2 in the hands of my amazing editor by December.
Would love help on a question I've been thinking about for a while... is there a better time of year to publish?
Market Chasing Memories
I've joined so many blog tours and events over the next three months that I can barely keep up with all of it. This leaves me with several posts still to write. I'm so excited to get some reviews and ramp up promotion.

Staying the course with MWF. For any of my fellow word nerds, check out Friday's post for the origin of the phrase Petered Out.
Happy Monday everyone!

Carrie's new cover looks great.
I think the summer isn't the best time to launch a book. Most of us are away from our computers more during that time, and are likely to miss the book release news. It's tough to say.
I think poss. autumn or early winter - E-books Christmas and maybe late spring for the holiday/beach reads -
isn't it nice when research and inspiration walk together?
keep smiling through all your tours best of luck for coming week:)
Thank you so much for helping, Tia! I really appreciate it. <3
The cover is really nice!
That's awesome you figured out the twist for book 2. I don't think there's a really a better or worse time for books to come out. People buy books all year long. Though I don't seem to see too many books released in the summer.
Stina -- It is an amazing cover. I've figured out that you are right about summer. I published 6/1, and I wish I would have waited until mid-August to early September. Live and learn. I've found I've put off promoting, thanks to kids home, etc.
Alberta -- Thanks for stopping by. I like the "in time for Christmas" idea.
Carrie -- You are most welcome!
Krystal -- Yes, the twist is figured out. I just need to capture it on paper.
You should be releasing at least two a year.
Release your first book around Mother's day and the second around October. Why October? It gives you time to stir up buzz for Christmas sales or specials.
I look forward to delving into book two with you. :)
WRITE ON!
