Review

Science fiction hasn't always been my favorite genre because too often characterization gets sacrificed to action. Don't get me wrong, I love action, but it can fall flat if the audience doesn't care about the characters. In Verseborn, and Earthborn before that, we get an in-depth look into Adelaide's motivations and thoughts, so when the action comes, it's even more captivating. We understand why she's willing to risk it all, and we love her for it. 

And getting to know her doesn't preclude amazing edge-of-your-seat action. Book 2 picks right up where book 1 left us, and it never lulls. From page 1, you strap in and take a crazy--and so enjoyable--roller coaster ride.

If you love science fiction, don't delay in picking up your copy. But if you've ever hesitated about the genre, let this book be the reason you learn to love it.

28 Days of Coloring Fun

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Woohoo! I hope you're all ready to take part in something awesome in February. This one is hosted by my dear friend, Jo Michaels.

If everyone is like me, January has been all about hitting those 2017 goals, so take a little breather in February to de-stress, relax, and ... COLOR! 
If you love coloring, and you have all these pictures to share, you'll enjoy this little challenge. You can use pictures you did before, ones you're doing just for this fun, or whatever, but here are the rules:

• You must have colored the image (can be an app!).
• You have to list the title of the coloring book or URL of the website where you got the image in the description of your post.
• You gotta HAVE FUN!
• Missing a day is fine. There aren't any rules about that. Just browse the awesome artworks of your fellow participants on those days.

Here's the list of photos/days:

1: Name or Word (clean) - This is for your name, the name of your pet, or whatever, as long as it's a clean word.
2: Mandala - Your favorite Mandala!
3: Insect - Anything other than butterflies, they have their own day.
4: Food - Nom, nom, nom!
5: Object - Any object.
6: Fantasy - Dragons, manticores, etc... No fantasy people (those are day 26).
7: Book Cover - The cover of your favorite coloring book.

9: Baby Animals - Seriously, show us the cute.

Are you fascinated by ghost shows on television? Wonder how much of it is true freakiness or behind-the-scenes shenanigans and faking?

Then, you will love Dark and Deadly Things. 

Elise is a young woman who grew up in a ghost-hunting family, but for her own reasons, she leaves the family business, although she can't leave behind seeing ghosts thanks to her gift, or curse.

Then, she watches on television as her father and the family he's ghost hunting for are attacked. Her father survives and becomes the number one suspect as the eldest brother seeks out Elise for help.

The journey from there is nothing short of fascinating and ultimately... so creepy. If you read this one at night, be sure to keep a flashlight close by. But beyond the captivating ghosts and edge-of-your-seat storytelling, you'll find yourself rooting for Elise and Abel to find not only answer but their way to each other. 

By the end, you'll be clamoring for book 2. Good thing it comes out 2/26.

So, I read this book, and let me tell you ... it's amazing. It kicks into high gear right out of the gate. In addition to some awesome action scenes, the storyline has emotional impact and a hot romance. What more could you want? Oh, I know, a heroine who pushes past fear and uncertainty to reach her full potential. Boo-yah. I highly recommend this 5-star read.
